Keeping Your Cable Railing Tensioned with Thread Locker
If you’ve installed either the REVO or AXIS System and are using lag-style tensioners, it’s not uncommon for your tensioners to loosen over time due to wind and vibration. To retain cable tension, we recommend using medium-strength thread locker (like Loctite) when installing or re-tensioning your HAAS Cable Railing System.
Whether you’ve installed REVO System Lag Tensioners or AXIS Straight or Pivot Tensioners, the process for re-tensioning and applying thread locker to the threads of your tensioners will be the exact same.
To start, clamp some vice grips onto the turnbuckle swage stud of your tensioner to prevent your cable from rotating. Then, loosen the turnbuckle body until the male threads for each of your turnbuckle studs are clearly exposed. Repeat this process for all the tensioners installed at your post.
Once all your tensioners have been loosened and the threads for your turnbuckle studs are clearly exposed on each side of your turnbuckle body, apply a drop or two of medium-strength thread locker to the threads for each of the tensioners installed at the post.
Now hold onto the turnbuckle swage stud attached to your cable and rotate the turnbuckle body until your cable is hand-tight. Repeat this same process for all the remaining tensioners at the post.
Lastly, follow the tensioning sequence shown here, and re-tension all your cables.
