Customer Questions & Answers

  • I am going to add about 100 ft to my existing chain. I have a Lewmar v700 windlass and believe Lewmar calls for 1/4" chain. Is this what you typically sell for the V700? Do you sell a connecting piece to tie in the two chains?

Yes, it looks like the Lewmar V700 will accept either style (ISO or BBB) of 1/4" cable.  It is not recommended to connect 2 lengths of chain with anything if it is going to be used in a windlass system.  Any part that could be used to connect the chain will most likely cause the chain to jump, jam, or skip in the windlass system.

  • Which chain compares to the G4 strength?

This chain is G4 or grade 40 chain.  It is also designed for certain windlass systems which can make that links different sizes than grade 40 mooring chain.
