AXIS System FAQ

HOR_axis_pivot_HSA20002
The AXIS System simplifies stair and angled cable railing installation with its pivoting receiver. Designed for DIYers, the pivot receiver allows cables to pivot up to 90 degrees, eliminating the need to calculate exact drilling angles. Simply attach the pivot receiver to your wood post with a trim head screw, and the built-in tensioner adjusts the cable to fit the correct angle securely. This system is perfect for staircases, ramps, and other angled runs, making cable railing installation faster and easier.
For easy installation, you can follow the steps in our Axis Installation video or see our video library for more installation resources.
  • Softwoods (e.g., pressure-treated pine or cedar): No pilot holes are needed when installing the AXIS System into softwoods. The screws can be driven directly into the wood with ease.
  • Hardwoods (e.g., oak or ipe): For dense hardwoods, you’ll need to drill a 1/8” diameter pilot hole approximately 2” deep into the post to ensure proper installation without splitting the wood.

To make the process even easier and more precise, use the HAAS Marking Template, which helps you drill perfectly aligned and level holes in your posts for a flawless installation.

The AXIS Cable Railing System is versatile and can be installed in a wide range of settings, both indoors and outdoors. Popular applications include:
  • Residential spaces like decks, balconies, patios, porches, and staircases.
  • Commercial areas such as office buildings, public spaces, and event venues.
  • Marine environments, including docks, marinas, and waterfront properties, thanks to its corrosion-resistant materials.

Designed for durability and aesthetic appeal, the AXIS System withstands harsh weather conditions, making it ideal for outdoor projects. Whether you’re enhancing your home or upgrading a business space, the AXIS System is a sleek, low-maintenance solution. Note: The Axis System is not compatible with metal or aluminum posts.

This small adjustment on 4x4 posts helps maintain the integrity and durability of your HAAS Axis Cable Railing installation. For step-by-step instructions check out our video on installing cable railing at corner posts.
While you can install AXIS Pivot Tensioners and End Stops on any termination post, we recommend this setup for optimal performance and alignment: This configuration makes it easier to fit the cables correctly and ensures proper tension and alignment for your stair railing system.

  • Straight Cable Runs: Up to 75 ft between termination posts.
  • Transitionary Cable Runs (with up to 2 x 45° angles): Up to 50 ft.
