AXIS System FAQ

AXIS System is a new, innovative solution specifically designed to help with angled and stair runs. Its unique start run fittings feature a pivot receiver that allows installation with a trim head screw at a straight angle. Once the HAAS Axis Pivot Receiver is installed, the cable run can pivot up to 90 degrees. This eliminates the need to calculate the exact drilling angle for your cable runs, as the pivot tensioner adjusts the cable to the correct angle, ensuring a smooth and secure fit for staircases and ramps.
The AXIS Cable Railing System is perfect for both indoor and outdoor applications, including residential and commercial settings like decks, balconies, staircases, porches, and patios. Its corrosion-resistant materials make it ideal for marine environments such as docks and marinas, while its sleek design enhances the aesthetics of any space, from office buildings to public areas. You can view our project gallery to see the variety of applications for the AXIS System.
The mounting screw for the AXIS System is a 3 inch long self-drilling, marine-grade type 316 stainless steel trim screw, providing a secure installation into wood posts.
AXIS System components do not come pre-assembled. Please watch and follow along with this video to pre-assemble all of your components:
For 4x4 Posts:
Yes, offset the placement of your mounting screw by 1/8” to prevent the screws from hitting each other.

For 6x6 Posts:
No offset needed for components.
If you’re installing the AXIS System into soft woods such as pressure treated pine or cedar, then you will not need to drill a pilot hole for your mounting screws. For hardwoods, such as Oak or Ipe, then you will need to drill a 1/8” diameter pilot hole approximately 2” deep into your post. You can use the HAAS Marking Template to help drill percise and level holes in your deck posts.
While you can install AXIS Pivot Tensioners and End Stops at any termination post, we recommend: This setup ensures easier fitting of cables and proper alignment.
Maximum Run Length for AXIS System Installation
  • Straight Cable Runs: Up to 75 ft between termination posts.
  • Transitionary Cable Runs (with up to 2 x 45° angles): Up to 50 ft.
No, if you’re using post protectors, the only place where you will be using them for the AXIS System are at your intermediate pass through posts.
Yes. The AXIS System can be installed into posts that utilize composite post sleeves.
