Is the 3/8 spade drill bit used with the Axis wood post protector? Would I use this bit to drill the through and through transitional holes of a 4" wood post? Also, what size drill bit do I use for the Axis Tension and end fitting? How deep do I drill the starter holes? Thank you!
All post protectors will need 3/8" holes. You will need to drill all the way through these posts to allow the post protectors to sit fully. The Axis sytem used to need an 1/8" pilot hole before screwing into the face. Now, with our better screws, you will not need a pilot hole. You should be able to drill these straight into the face.
