Post Protectors are designed to prevent the cables in a cable railing system from grinding and eventually damaging the edges of intermediate and termination post holes. Additionally, our customers find it to offer an attractive and finished look to their cable railing systems.
Post Protector Types At HAAS Stainless, we carry three different types of post protectors: straight, transition, and angled. Each type is applied to different post scenarios.
Straight Post Protectors are going to be used in post scenarios whenever your cable is passing level or straight through the holes in your post.
Transition Post Protectors are going to be used in post scenarios whenever your cable needs to bend as it is entering or exiting the holes in your post.
Angled Post Protectors are going to be used for your intermediate posts on your stair rails. They're available in 30°,33° and 37° angles. So, when selecting angled post protectors, you're going to want to select the angle that matches closest to that of your handrail.
Where to Install Post Protectors
Wood post protectors can be used for both the REVO and the AXIS system. However, it's important for you to understand where you'll need to use post protectors when using either system.
If you're installing the AXIS System, post protectors will not be needed wherever you have AXIS Tensioners or AXIS End Stops installed and will only be used at your intermediate posts.
If you're installing the REVO System, post protectors will be needed at your termination posts where you have either a thru-post tensioner or a thru-post end stop installed and at your intermediate posts.
If you're installing the REVO System, and your system requires REVO Lag Tensioners, or Lag End Stops, you will not need to use post protectors where those components are installed. For more information about installing your own cable railing system, click here to read Cable Railing Basics.
