Overhang Rehab with Wire Rope Truss and Copper Nickel Railings

Stephen’s Cantilever Deck Rehabilitation Project

Stephen’s cantilever deck rehabilitation project had us eagerly following its progress due to the intricate details and the sturdy yet elegant appearance of the HAAS Legacy cable railing system in a challenging installation. This large project focused on the need for high-quality materials and meticulous craftsmanship.

It began with the installation of polished metal plates on wooden posts to ensure structural integrity. In the workshop, railing posts and components were meticulously assembled and prepared, setting the stage for a successful installation.

Stephen re-fabricated two cantilever decks using a wire rope tensioned two-part truss system to ensure stability and safety. Temporary supports maintained stability and level during installation. The railings, crafted from copper nickel with internal stainless steel (SS) corner reinforcement, provided durability and a unique aesthetic appeal. Decorative finials, such as the pineapple design on stanchions, showcased attention to both structural and aesthetic details. The cable railing system offered a modern, minimalistic look while ensuring safety.

From Stephen, of Rhode Island: “This job was a Re-fab of two cantilever decks using a wire rope tensioned two-part truss. Railings are copper nickel with internal SS corner reinforcement. All railing wire rope and swaged fittings purchased from E-Rigging. Center stanchions are made stiff using fabricated anchor points and swaged wire rope fittings from E-Rigging.”

The completed decks featured the new railing system on multiple levels. The combination of wood and metal complemented the building’s facade, resulting in a cohesive and stylish appearance. The use of copper nickel and stainless steel ensured durability and visual appeal, highlighting the project’s success in marrying functionality with aesthetics.

Stephen’s project exemplifies meticulous planning, high-quality materials, and skilled craftsmanship. The wire rope tensioned two-part truss system, copper nickel railings, and internal stainless steel reinforcements ensured stability, safety, and aesthetic appeal. By choosing components from E-Rigging and focusing on both structural and visual details, Stephen improved these cantilevered decks into durable and elegant outdoor spaces.
