Transforming Bucktown's Boardwalk: Innovative Cable Rail Project

The 2,000-foot boardwalk may look daunting, but in only three months and with nearly 4 miles of cable rigging, the proud crew at Gill’s Crane and Dozer Services were able to turn a bare, wooden walkway into a functional cable rail system.

The project was commissioned last year by the Jefferson Parish council, ordering the construction of a much-needed walkway for pedestrians around the lakeside community of Bucktown.

But their crew knew it wouldn’t be complete without a little stainless steel cable railing. That’s where we stepped up with our HAAS Stainless Cable Railing. Together, we installed 66 back-to-back cable runs at 30’ in length each, and used our lag swage turnbuckles and swage stops.

In February, we were approached not only for the necessary supplies, but to aid in setting up a demonstration for the parish to approve. It was a privilege to be able to work on what turned out to be a beautiful project for the residents and visitors of Bucktown to enjoy for many years.
