QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

  • Your note says this will not work with stainless steel components, but you are out of the other swagers. Will this swager work to make loops with vinyl coated stainless steel cable and the copper ferrules?

Yes, this swager is designed to make loops in cable with the ferrules.  It is required to strip the vinyl off the cable before crimping/swaging the ferrule to the cable, so you will need to know the cable diameter without the vinyl coating and match that size with the ferrules.  Also, you will will want to use the 7x19 cable construction with the ferrules as opposed to the 1x19 with the cable railing fittings.
The Crenshaw hand swager is a tool we designed and manufacture in house in our warehouse in New Orleans, and I was told it should be back on the site win the next week or so.  The hydraulic tools are some temporary solutions while we were running some tests for the Crenshaw tool, and they should be back in stock soon but I have not gotten an ETA on those yet.

  • How do I know how many crimps to use on each sleeve?

We have a guide showing the number of swages per sleeve dependant on the size and type of sleve used. Check out our video and instruction guide here: How to Select and Use Swage Sleeves .

  • what is the load capacity of the swedge when applied to a cable?

The termination efficiency of a properly swaged sleeve is 90% of the cable's strength.
