  • I like the profile of your clamps..i would like to know if i could use these clamps on our sling boat lifts as permanent clamps since we use 5/16 316 grade cable to only pick up 6000lbs or less since thats the max for our boat hoist and i know that 5/16 cable is over kill when 90% of our lift are only picking up 3500lbs.but the main question is could i use them for a permanent solution for my lifts due to the size of the load??

    The stamped cable clamps are not designed for high load applications. You would want to use the stainless cast wire rope clips for your application.

A little hard to get the cable to fit in this shape but worth the effort. I like these much better than the cable u bolts for appearance and holding power.

The following is MY opinion and should not be construed as fact. Over the years I have purchased many 316 stainless-steel products from many different suppliers. The 316-graded stainless-steel products that I have obtained, have always been completely nonmagnetic, or highly nonmagnetic Certain parts of these clamps are much more magnetic than I would like to see. This indicates to me that inferior alloys may have been used on certain components of this clamp assembly. If I was using these in a saltwater situation, I would have to reject these. In my opinion, I would rate certain parts of this clamp as more of a 304 stainless. These are very stout clamps, and I will use them, however, I don't recommend them for saltwater or other corrosive situations. Just my opinion here. Thanks.
