In this episode of “Cable Rail the Country”, we headed to Bryson City, North Carolina to meet up with YouTube sensations Erik and Jaime Perkins to assist with an installation of the HAAS REVO Cable Railing System at what Erik and Jaime call “The Mountain Cabin”. Erik and Jaime Perkins have been hammering nails and working on construction sites since they were kids going to work with their dad, who founded Perkins Enterprises, Inc. over thirty years ago. Since then, they have amassed a faithful and talented team and a robust portfolio of projects. It’s safe to say that these guys know a thing or two about putting a house together, so we’re very grateful to have them in our growing base of HAAS Pro Installers. The Mountain Cabin where we installed the HAAS REVO System is nestled in a remote mountain community well outside of Bryson City, NC. The winding gravel road leads up to the construction site where the views of low-lying clouds comb their way through the green woods of the Great Smokey Mountains. Not a neighbor to be seen. It would’ve been silent and peaceful if it wasn’t for the Perkins’ team already sawing and drilling to prepare the exterior deck for the HAAS REVO Cable Railing System. On this project, we had 6-by-6 posts coupled with 2-by-6 intermediate posts, so Tyler saw an opportunity to teach how to drill through either side of the post to get the cleanest and most accurate entry holes. Additionally, the 6-by-6’s required the team to recess the REVO Through-Post Tensioners so that there were enough threads on the backside of the post to properly tension the run. This episode contains those and many more cable railing tips and tricks.Once the cable railing was up, we could truly see why Perkins Builder Brothers chose the HAAS Stainless REVO Cable Railing System for the Mountain Cabin. The minimal balustrade allows you take in the views of the surrounding mountains from any angle with barely any obstruction. All in all, the project took a day and half, and despite the summer sun, we had an awesome time working on this deck. We are so grateful to Erik and Jaime for inviting us up to accompany them on this home build and can’t wait to catch up with them again! We hope you enjoyed this episode of Cable Rail the Country.
